History of Hotel Catalina

Built in 1916, the historic Catalina Hotel has been a cherished favorite among visitors for over 100 years. The Victorian-style white and blue building sits a few doors away from Avalon Bay. Known for its charming atmosphere, the hotel gives guests a breathtaking view of the waterfront.

Hotel Catalina has been a staple of Catalina Island for over 100 years, and has withstood a multitude of changes in the area. Back in 1915, a major fire destroyed half of the buildings in Avalon Bay. Hotel Catalina was inaugurated not long after this fire, and the hotel helped to usher a new era in the island.

The hotel is a living relic of a past era, and from the moment you step foot in the hotel, you’ll feel like you walked into a piece of the 1900s. The building is still in pristine condition, and has been renovated to keep pace with the needs of 2019. For generations, Hotel Catalina has been a preferred place to stay, and that’s unlikely to change anytime soon.
