JAWS: The Art of Fear in Filmmaking
Immerse yourself in the creative vision and artistic direction behind the movie JAWS.
From the collection of the film’s Production Designer, Joe Alves, comes
the original storyboard drawings, scouting photos, behind-the-scenes
photographs of the film crew in action, plus original props and ephemera
from the film. This special exhibition includes life-size models of
characters, scenes and sharks, of course, created by present-day special
effects artists.

challenging. Visiting Catalina island can be a great option. There are
multiple things to do on the island, from a Houdini show, to Bingo on
the Beach, to a kids fishing derby. Beach Bingo happens every Tuesday
and Thursday. The kid’s fishing derby happens every Wednesday, and the
Houdini Show happens on a daily basis. Catalina Island offers something
for every member of the family, come visit the Island, and have the
family vacation of a lifetime.

31st Annual Silent Film Benefit & Art Auction - May 19, 2018
Harry Houdini stars as an inventor who travels to the South Seas, where there is buried treasure belonging to a girl. The girl’s father is being held captive by cannibals until she returns a pearl that belongs to one of their idols. Terror Island was filmed on Santa Catalina Island. The Silent Film Benefit provides the rare opportunity to experience cinema the way it was originally intended, with live musical accompaniment in a grand movie palace. Period dress is encouraged. The event also features an art auction and a member’s only pre-performance magic show. (Doors open at 12:30pm) 1pm-4pm.

37th Annual Avalon Harbor Underwater Cleanup 2018
USC’s Catalina Hyperbaric Chamber and Wrigley Institute for Environmental Studies – Catalina Conservancy Divers are proud to host this annual event. This is the only time scuba diving is allowed in Avalon Bay, with 500+ expected volunteer divers collecting trash and debris. Awards ceremony follows on Wrigley Stage with prizes & giveaways. Proceeds benefit the USC Hyperbaric Chamber and the Wrigley Institute for Environmental Studies Scientific Diving Program.
